E-NEWS : 2009

This year, we pray will be a better year than last, with the global meltdown of economy... it would be a challenge

15th Year Anniversary

This year, we decided to have a big celebration because 15h years is an achievement! The theme was 'Pirate', so it was natural to call it 'Pirate Nite'. The whole planning took about 1 month before the eventful day! The staff had to practice poco-poco dance before everyone was familiar with the step. Then there was the preparation of invitation cards, planning of the decorations to create an ambience of a pirate's lair. Everyone participated + had fun while doing all these. We even borrowed 'Bob' [the robot that usually flags the highway during any road construction, courtesy of Plus.

During the night itself, which was on the 8th of May, we had Auction [we had staff performing + the highest bidders would have special treatment ... well, being served + the money would go into our charity fund], Lucky Draw [the prizes were not spectacular like trip to Bali or anywhere, but still gifts], Choir Singing, Poco-poco Dance, Karaoke, lots of food + beverages.

Definitely a night to remember! To those who attended, thank you!!!!

Building New Look

We have been at this current address since December 2003, so we felt it was timely to repaint the external + have a new fresher look. The Design Section had to do various color schemes options before the final scheme was decided..... Yes, quite tedious to please the bosses!

So by the time the painting was completed, our office block looked the new kid on the block because we had selected bright yellow + all the curtain wall were shinning!

It was, no doubt, the most striking corner block! ....Okay, a bit bias here.

Tajwid + Tafsir Classes

This year, while we do try to improve our work, we had also decided to try to improve our 'batin'. These Quran classes were taught by Ustaz Masriyadi. These classes schedule were as follows :

0 Tajwid Class
Every Tuesday at 3pm.
During these classes, Ustaz would let us read out loud in front of everyone + then would correct our pronounciation [if any... of course there's usually a lot!] + teach us the rules of 'tajwid'. At the beginning, yes quite intimidating, especially reading out loud, but it gets easier. Like they say 'practice makes perfect'.

0 Tafsir Class
Every forthnightly on Thursdays at 10am.
These classes mainly concentrate on the translation of ayat as well as the history behind. Some of the surah are quite profound + for us to just read the Quran translation, we might not have captured the true essence of the meaning. Yes, very educational

0 Yassin Recital
Every Friday at 10am.
As for this, it has been going on + has been our ritual since 2002 or so. Usually afterwards, some generous staff would bring homemade cooking + we would have a feast! Thank You.

A + I Bakti

We have been involved in charity works for some time now. However this year, we decided to give it an identity, hence A + I Bakti [Amal + Ikhlas Bakti] was born. It is just a loose entity of this Group that focuses on on helping or assisting less-fortunate people. Since we do not have the human resources to identify places where the needy people are, we rely on word of mouth, afterwhich we would check the place out to authenthicate.

So far this year, we have only completed 2 projects, both in Kelantan:

Rebuilding a Surau in Kubang Kerian
Treating orphanage kids to a feast in Pengkalan Chepa

These acts might not be monumental, but these were the least we could do, given the limited financial resources. Next year, our project would be in Selama, Perak, where we discovered a community of needy people in a remote village

So if you do know any less-fortunate people anywhere in Malaysia that we may be able to help, do let us know. Should you also wish to contribute, please do + we eagerly accept any kind of contribution!
